Guide for Authors

Journal of Marine Sciences and Technology for Sustainable Development (JMSTSD)

Manuscript Format

All manuscripts submitted for peer review must follow the JMSTSD Template (English). Upon acceptance, authors are required to submit the final version in the JMSTSD Publication Template (English). Failure to comply with formatting guidelines may result in rejection by the editorial office.

Types of Articles

JMSTSD publishes the following categories:

  • Full-Length Research Articles

  • Short Communications

  • State-of-the-Art Review Papers

  • Letters to the Editor

Short Communications should present concise yet complete findings from a focused investigation. These must be well-documented, include references and methodology, and not exceed 4–6 printed pages. Submissions must reflect novel and impactful research that warrants rapid dissemination.

Prospective authors of review papers are encouraged to contact the Managing Editor prior to submission.

Conflict of Interest

All authors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest—financial, personal, or institutional—that may influence the submitted work. Disclosures should cover the past three years and be included in the manuscript.

Submission Declaration

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:

  • The work is original and has not been published elsewhere (except as an abstract, thesis, or preprint).

  • It is not under review by another journal.

  • All authors approve the submission and publication.

  • If accepted, the article will not be published elsewhere in the same form or language without written consent from JMSTSD.

Authorship Policy

Changes to the author list cannot be made after acceptance. Please ensure that all contributing authors are correctly listed at the time of submission.

Copyright

JMSTSD is an Open Access journal. All published articles are freely available to read and download. No publication fees are charged.

Similarity Check Requirement

To ensure the quality and originality of all submissions, authors are required to provide a similarity report generated preferably through iThenticate. Submissions accompanied by a verified similarity report will enter the review process more efficiently. If you are unable to perform a similarity check, you may upload your manuscript without the report. However, please note that the review process may take longer in such cases, as the editorial office will need to conduct the similarity assessment internally. We strongly encourage authors to complete the similarity check prior to submission to help streamline the evaluation process and maintain high academic standards.

Role of Funding Source

Authors must acknowledge all sources of financial support and describe the role of the sponsor(s), if any, in:

  • Study design

  • Data collection and analysis

  • Manuscript preparation

  • Decision to submit for publication

If the sponsor had no involvement, this should be clearly stated.

Language

Manuscripts must be written in clear, professional English (American or British, but not both). Authors may use language editing services if needed. For assistance, contact the Managing Editor.

Submission Process

All submissions are handled entirely online. Authors are guided step-by-step through uploading files. The system automatically generates a PDF for peer review. All communication—including decisions and revisions—is conducted via email.

Referees

Authors must suggest at least three potential reviewers with full names, affiliations, and email addresses. Final reviewer selection is at the discretion of the Editor.
